Apple has announced that the software update designed to fix the iPhone 4 antenna flaw will not solve the problem of dropped calls.
According to a news report on technology blog Gizmodo, AppleCare has stated that the antenna flaw cannot be fixed with any kind of software update.
Apple Support has advised users to buy the £25 iPhone bumper or hold the phone as Apple CEO Steve Jobs had previously described, to prevent dropped calls.
According to the support team, Apple is only providing the forthcoming update for its iPhone 4 to fix an algorithm issue, making the device more accurately show available signal, and will not fix a hardware issue.
The company stated: “The incoming software update will not fix this antenna problem, only change the way the phone displays the available signal, make it more accurate.”
Many Apple customers, and Gizomdo, are calling for the iPhone maker to give out free bumpers to all affected customers to fix the issue.
