A study has revealed an increasing number of women are becoming addicted to Facebook, the Telegraph reported on Wednesday.
According to research conducted by Oxygen Media and Lightspeed Research (http://www.lightspeedresearch.com/), based on the responses of 1,605 adults using the site between May and June of this year, 21 per cent of women check their Facebook profiles in the middle of the night, and a further 20 per cent say that checking their Facebook account is the first thing they do in morning.
The study found that 57 per cent of women prefer meeting their Facebook friends face to face, but that 31 per cent prefer to maintain their friendships online.
Some 42 per cent of the women surveyed think its fine to post drunken pictures on Facebook, and 79 per cent have no problem with posting intimate photos online. However, 63 per cent of the women said that they use Facebook for their career and for networking.
The survey also reveals that 16 per cent of women have stopped using the site because of privacy issues.
