News Comes To We7 Music Service

Music streaming service We7 is set to add a rolling news station, UK newspaper The Telegraph reported today.

We7 has teamed up with The Guardian Media Group’s (GMG) radio division to offer its users news tracks that can be played or added to a playlist just like a song.

The company said that the service “ensures that consumers listening to digital music no longer miss out on breaking news”.

Speaking to the Telegraph, Steve Purdham, chief executive and co-founder of We7 said: “This partnership marries high-quality news production and delivery with the new paradigm of on-demand music. Radio and Cloud-based music can learn a great deal from each other."

According to Stuart Taylor, CEO of GMG Radio, the group is excited to be able to offer its users news in such a new format.

He said: “We’re thrilled to be providing news for listeners in this format, it’s not only changing the offering to the consumers but shows the real evolution of the market.”
