The BBC News website has undergone an overhaul aimed at bringing it up to speed with social networking, technology news website Tech Radar reports.
BBC News is amongst the most-used news sites in the UK. The redesign provides greater integration with major social networks such as Facebook and Twitter, wrote Steve Hermann, the editor of BBC News, in an official blogpost.
The thinking behind the refresh was outlined in a blogpost to users last week, in which Hermann said the site was getting one of its biggest makeovers since 2003:
"We have focused on design and navigation, looking to see how we can make all the existing content we produce each day easier for you to find, use and share."
The new social features allow readers to "Like" a story, and share it directly with their contacts.
