Twitter's revenue generating service @earlybird launched its first deal on Wednesday - cinema tickets.
Tiwtter announced: "Today, we're excited to launch the first @earlybird Exclusive Offer, in partnership with The Walt Disney Studios."
"For a limited time, @earlybird followers in the U.S. can get a special deal on tickets for "The Sorcerer's Apprentice," a new feature film from Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films that opens in theaters today."
The @earlybird advertisement and promotion scheme allows selected advertisers to post tweets advertising discounts and special offers on their products. The scheme is a part of Twitter's efforts to monetise its operations.
The company said: “Several times a week, @earlybird will help consumers discover Twitter-exclusive deals in entertainment, fashion, technology, beauty, travel and more.”
Twitter has said that since its launch, the @earlybird account has become very popular among users, and has accumulated over 50,000 followers already.
@earlybird has already signed up many big name companies, including Walt Disney, Groupon and Gilt Groupe, to advertise deals on the account, and Twitter has said that there is set to be more signing up in the near future.
