Samsung Galaxy Tablet To Launch On August 11th?

The Android-based Tablet from Samsung, which is rumoured to be called the Galaxy Tab, is set to be presented on the 11th of August in the United States, 10 days from now according to a press invite issued by the company.

Crunchgear published details of the press conference invitation which will see none other than the president of Samsung Electronics America, Tim Baxter, present a number of products and announcements and celebrate what it calls "a new dimension of Wonder).

The Galaxy Tablet is likely to run on Froyo (Android OS 2.2), sport a 7-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, a 1.2GHz Samsung Hummingbird CPU, 16GB internal storage with microSDHC slot, 3.2-megapixel camera with flash, a front VGA camera and much more.

Should this be confirmed, it will mean that Samsung will have positioned itself as the first significant tablet competitor to the Apple iPad and validate news that it will be launched in Q3 2010.

There are rumours that the Samsung YP-MB2 which is basically the Galaxy S handset without the phone functionality (think iPod Touch), wil be released at the same event which will take place at the Time Warner Center in New York.
