Microsoft has released two cropped photos of a mysterious device on its newly created Twitter account.
The company further teased gadget fans with a hint written at the bottom of the final uploaded image, indicating that the device, whatever it is, will be touch-enabled.
It reads: “Don't be so touchy... flat is where it's at”.
The photos, when joined together by PC World, revealed that the rectangular device comes with the word 'Microsoft' embossed into its reverse side.
Ever since the photos were uploaded, Microsoft fans and experts alike have been speculating about the identity of the device.
Many of them believe that the photos are of the upcoming Windows Phone 7 smartphone, set to run on Microsoft's new Windows Phone 7 operating system.
Others believe that photos are of a secret Microsoft tablet designed to compete with rival Apple's iPad.
Microsoft has since promised that it will “release another image soon to give you a better idea of what’s in store”.
