Famous British actor Brian Blessed will soon be lending his voice to the TomTom sat nav service, following a successful Facebook campaign.
Blessed, who played the role of Prince Vultan in Flash Gordon, will be offering his voice for TomTom's sat nav service, which allows customers to get voice directions from famous personalities such as the likes of Homer Simpson and Darth Vader.
The Facebook campaign, "Campaign to get Brian Blessed to do a voice-over for my sat nav", was started by Richard Gardner from Manchester in 2008, who managed to get 450 Facebook users to support the cause in February 2010.
He then went on to contact TomTom, which said that it would consider negotiating with Blessed if the campaign managed to get 25,000 members.
After that, Gardener appealed to Blessed, who offered his support to the campaign, adding the weight to make the campaign a success.
Gardner said: “I believe this is the first time that a product has been created through social media.”
