O2 will offer PAYG option of three Blackberry smartphones including the upmarket Bold 9700; the other models are the Pearl 3G & the Curve 8520 available in black and purple.
According to Mobile Today, users will be able to buy the Curve for £150, the Pearl 3G for £250 and the Bold 9700 for £350 on PAYG respectively; O2 has yet to confirm whether it will be shipping the newly released Blackberry Torch.
That said, the Blackberry Bold is still not available on PAYG although it is on may Monthly. In addition, PAYG users will be missing out on the Blackberry 8900 Curve and the Blackberry Storm 2.
Only Vodafone and 3 UK do not offer Blackberry on PAYG and it seems that RIM is warming up to the idea of having phones for the PAYG market, one which doesn't carry much prestige but does attract an increasingly bigger chunk of mobile expenses, especially as people migrate to SIM-only offers.
O2 head of consumer marketing Jonathan Earle noted that "O2’s new Pay & Go tariffs for BlackBerry smartphones will bring all the benefits of BlackBerry to even more of our customers. With BBM being used more and more across the world, now anyone can share their PIN and get chatting."
O2 customers who purchase Blackberry phones will get 500MB worth of data with Blackberry Messenger when they top up at least £15 a month, above this they will also get 500 free text messages.
