Bestbuy To Sell Own brand Tablets

US Consumer Electronics giant Best buy will be selling tablets under its own inhouse brand, Rocketfish, according to details posted online by its CTO.

Robert Stephens posted photos of the device on Twitter (via Crunchgear) without giving more details about its specifications.

Bestbuy also sells the Apple iPad and has a growing presence in the UK market which makes the launch of that tablet even more interesting.

The device will most likely be based on Android OS 2.2 and bears more than a passing resemblance with the HP Slate and the iPhone 4 (yep) with a big red Rocketfish logo at the back.

We'd expect it to come with a 10-inch touchscreen, USB ports, a microSD card reader, front facing camera, an ARM processor, at least 512MB RAM, optional 3G, Wi-Fi and a price low enough to entice users to try Android.

Our early verdict? Expect these to come to the UK fairly quickly either through Best Buy UK or through its partner, Carphone Warehouse. Bundling these with 3G data bundles is likely to be a hit with users.
