Consumer electronics giant BestBuy has issued a cease-and-desist order to a US priest because of a logo on his Volkswagon Beetle which which the company claims is similar to the on for its Geek Squad technical support service.
Two years ago, Father Luke Strand had come up with the idea of 'God Squad', which was meant to stir conversation among people and attract more followers to the Christian faith.
The God Squad logo, that has been applied on the black-and-white Beetle, is alleged to resemble the Geek Squad logo.
For that, Best Buy, has issued a court order against Strand, asking him to either alter the logo - or stop using it altogether.
Father Luke Strand refused to comment on the affair, but his friend and colleague Father Dan Janasik told the Journal Sentinel that “There was never any kind of formal God Squad group or organization. Father Luke and some friends simply decided to design a car that would act as a cool and fun way to bring our faith into the public. It's just a conversation starter.”
