Google is the most visited site for online video with more than 143 million unique viewers in July, new research by web analytics firm comScore has revealed.
Social networking giant Facebook saw the most growth in unique viewers during July, increasing to 46 million and moving it up from fourth position to third. Each viewer spent an average of 18.3 minutes on the platform for watching videos.
According to the comScore report, Google help the top spot thanks to its popular video sharing and viewing platform, YouTube.
Overall, comScore reported that Google-owned websites garnered 1.9 billion viewers and an average time spent per viewer at 283 minutes, or 4.7 hours for the month.
Yahoo-owned web properties enjoyed 55 million unique viewers.
Google has been under immense pressure to generate advertising revenue from YouTube, but has so far failed to match expectations.
On-demand video streaming platform Hulu topped the list of maximum video ad impressions for any platform with 783 million.
