Microsoft has announced plans for releasing 50 games on its upcoming Windows Phone 7 smartphones.
Speaking at the Gamescom 2010 in Cologne, the company said that users will offered 50 Xbox Live games when the first Windows Phone 7-based smartphone is launched.
The games will include mobile versions of Halo: Waypoint, Crackdown 2: Project Sunburst, Guitar Hero 5 and Assassin’s Creed.
Microsoft also said that users will be able to port their Xbox Live gaming details, such as achievements and friend lists, onto their smartphones.
The smartphones will come with a native Xbox Live hub that will allow users to send instant messages and multi-player options about Windows Phone 7 games to other players.
Marc Whitten, the vice president of Xbox Live platform on Microsoft, said in a statement: “Windows Phone 7 takes a different approach to handheld gaming, utilising Xbox Live, Microsoft Game Studios, leading game publishers, and innovative indie developers, to create powerful, shared experiences for everyone.”
