IBM has launched a new social media training initiative to instruct partners in SMM (Social Media Marketing) tactics to help develop and expand new revenue streams.
The new partner initiative comes after an IBM survey found that around 45 per cent of IBM Business Partners are working with social media to promote their existing services and develop revenue streams.
The survey, which interviewed 1,000 global IBM Business Partners, also found that three quarters of businesses were not certain how to use social media tools to boost sales.
In a statement, Sandy Carter, vice president, IBM Software Business Partners, said: “Many of our partners are recognising this shift in how businesses communicate with their customers, potential customers, and each other, and yet they have not created a strategy for embracing social media.”
Under the new IBM social media training initiative, the company will provide training sessions and a specially developed social media guide, which will be available on IBM PartnerWorld website.
IBM will also offer webcasts and podcasts on its training sessions for its business partners.
