Facebook is testing a new feature designed to allow users to be instantly notified about any activity on their friend's profile.
According to the Telegraph, the new feature, 'subscribe to' - currently available as a beta - will enable users to receive notifications whenever their friends update their profiles.
"We are testing this feature with a small percentage of users. It lets people subscribe to friends and pages to receive notifications whenever the person updates their status or posts new content, such as photos, videos, links, or notes,” Facebook said.
The feature will allow users to select friends they wish to receive notifications about.
The update has not been well received by a few industry experts, who believe that the feature could be used as a means to stalk other members of the site.
The report, which was first published on AllFacebook, has worried tech critics, who have said that the feature could be used to stalk other users if Facebook does not prevent people from being able to subscribe to users who they are not friends with,
