Broadband provider Virgin Media has announced three new nine month broadband contracts aimed at students who do not want to pay for the service during summer holidays.
Furthermore, the package do not tie them up with a BT landline, which comes with a minimum of 12 months contract. The offer starts from £20 per month for a 10mbps offer with the 20mbps service is on sale for £30.
In addition, students can waive the installation and activation fees with their NUS Extra card. In addition, they will get a 15 per cent discount if they sign up for Virgin Media's student discount scheme.
This includes mobile broadband and mobile phones as well (more here). However adding other services like landline telephony could prove to be extremely expensive - £16.99 per month to be more precise - which means that it might be better for them to get a Skype out account which costs less than £5, doesn't need a phone line and gives unlimited calls to landline.
The cheapest phone, broadband and TV package from Virgin Media costs £31 and includes unlimited, weekend calls and a landline number.
