Research In Motion's BlackBerry World application store now stocks over 10,000 apps.
The 18 month old app store now houses more than 10,000 apps designed to cater to the millions of BlackBerry smartphone users around the world.
Although the number is considerably less than the amount of applications housed on Apple's App Store, with 250,000, or Google's Android market, with 100,000, the milestone is a big step for BlackBerry World, which has struggled to attract developers to create applications for its devices.
BlackBerry, which is mainly used by businesses, is set to benefit from offering niche, enterprise orientated applications that exploit its devices functionality to allow users to be more productive on the move.
Tech news site Tech Watch reports that RIM announced reaching 10,000 apps on its Twitter account.
The company tweeted: “BlackBerry #AppWorld is 10,000 apps strong and growing – what apps do you love?”
