Microsoft has released its next-generation enterprise collaboration tool Microsoft Lync 2010 Attendee.
According to tech news site ZD Net, the Microsoft Lync conferencing client is the Communicator client for Office Communications Server 14, but renamed.
Microsoft has said that the Lync 2010 will allow users to use sophisticated communications tools, such as "instant messaging, audio, and video, as well as collaboration tools such as application sharing, screen sharing, attachments, white board, polling, and PowerPoint slide presentation."
The software giant explained: “Microsoft Lync 2010 Attendee is a conferencing client that allows users without Microsoft Lync 2010 installed, to participate in online meetings.”
The company has released two versions of the communications tool, one administrator installer and one user level installer. The company said that users who are permitted by their administrators to download the software can install it right away.
