Opera has released its Opera Mini 5.1 mobile web browser for Microsoft's aged Windows Mobile platform.
The web browser, which is already available on Java, BlackBerry OS and Android OS-based smartphones, is designed to allow Windows Mobile users to load web pages much faster, thereby helping them to shed data costs.
Opera Mini 5.1 will run on Windows Mobile 2003 SE, 5.x and 6.x based smartphones.
The browser has been proved to be one of the most widely used mobile web browsers as it allows users to load compacted versions of web pages, resulting in lower data costs.
The Opera Mini 5.1 for Windows Mobile will come with some significant performance enhancements, including page auto-rotation, high resolution displays and an improved page layout.
Philip Grønvold, the product manager for Opera Mini, said in a statement to V3: “A lot of Windows Mobile phones do basic things very well, but web browsing not so much. We are hoping to breathe new life into phones by improving and enhancing their internet capabilities.”
