Facebook is now the most popular website in the US, overtaking Google, a new report has shown.
According to tech news site PC World, the social networking giant, in August, managed to surge ahead of search giant Google to become the most popular website for US users.
comScore, in its monthly statistics, has revealed that Internet users in the US spent nearly 413 million minutes on the web in August, out of which of which about 10 per cent or 41.1 million minutes were spent on Facebook.
Around 39.7 million minutes were spent on Google and its associated webpages, which include Google News, You Tube, Gmail, Search among others.
"Facebook continues to grow its user base and grow engagement among its users. A year ago Facebook accounted for less than 5% of overall time spent online in the U.S. and today it accounts for 10%," said senior director of industry analysis at comScore, Andrew Lipsman.
