Boxee Box To Cost £199 In UK

D-link manufactured, XMBC-based Boxee Box will cost £199 when it goes on sale in the UK towards the end of the year in mid-November.

The device which is powered by Intel's CE4100 Atom processor, the same as in the Google TV (Logitech Revue), will probably be available on Amazon UK.

Boxee's Avner Ronen also stated that the device will be released in a number of European countries and in Canada shortly through D-Link's extensive network of partners.

The box is being pitched to those looking to experience the internet on a full screen, possibly in full HD, 1080p with 5.1 surround sound where possible, use a remote rather than a keyboard and mouse and watch internet-based content on their big screen.

The UK-based boxee will have access to content from BBC,, CNET, CNN, Channel 4, Comedy Central, Facebook, ITV, MTV Music, MyspaceTV, Youtube, Flickr, and Picasa and will also offer a library of free and paif-for content over the internet.

At £199, it will have a very tough time to compete against the Google TV and the Apple TV which is available for less than half the price and comes with native integration with Apple iTunes.

You can find more about the box here (opens in new tab) (you can download the Boxee software for free) and here.
