Amazon has let slip the price of the hotly-anticipated HTC Desire Z Android-based app phone.
The book flogger is currently listing the touch-screen handset with a slider keyboard for £499 and is merrily taking pre-orders for the iPhone-chasing device's October 18th launch.
The latest Desire has an Qualcomm MSM7230 800MHz CPU, a 3.7-inch touch screen, a full QWERTY keyboard with user-definable keys, a five-megapixel camera with autofocus and flash, and a weedy 1.5 GB of internal storage which can be ramped up at your own expense using the SD card slot.
We've included the full specs below, but we can't for the life of us think why on earth anyone would want one of these when you can buy a 16GB iPhone 4 for the same price. We're sure you'll show us the error of our ways in the comments section below but, if this is the eventual RRP of the HTC Desire Z we reckon the company has got its sums very badly wrong indeed.
