Microsoft aims to sell more than three million units of its forthcoming Xbox 360 motion-sensing peripheral Kinect within the first two months of its release.
According to Xbox product director Aaron Greenberg, the soon-to-be-released games console peripheral is expected to surpass Xbox add-ons in terms of sales, ahead of this holiday season worldwide, games news site Made 2 Game reveals.
In an interview with Gamasutra, Greenberg said that statistics available from various market research companies suggest that Kinect will make a huge mark in video games market this year.
"We’re also done our own research. We believe this will be the biggest launch in our history, for Xbox. We will sell more Kinect sensors than we did [systems] at Xbox 360 launch,” said Greenberg.
Kinect comes with a camera and motion sensor technology, enabling users to play games with gestures and verbal commands.
Microsoft is set to release the Kinect on 4 November in the United States and 10 November in the UK.
