Halo: Reach is top of the UK video games charts for this week, beating Sports Champions, which came in second.
The game, for Microsoft’s Xbox 360 console, has reached the top rank of the Entertainment and Leisure Software Publishers Association (ELSPA) Gfk Chart-Track All Formats within a week of its launch, Games Industry reports.
Chart Track declared that Halo: Reach has out-done the first week’s sales of previous versions of the game, beating Halo 3 by 20,000 copies and Halo: ODST’s by nearly 200,000 copies. Halo: Reach sold 330,000 copies on the first day of its launch in the United Kingdom, earning $200 million from global sales within a day.
Halo: Reach has managed to bag the title of biggest one week grosser for Microsoft. The game has replaced Mafia II which has sat at the top spot for last three weeks, but has now fallen to the third position, trailing behind PlayStation Move’s newly launched game, Sports Champion.
