Facebook went down for the second time in two days, disappointing users across the world.
The social networking giant welcomed its dedicated users with an error message across the world for several hours, for the second time within two days, tech news site CRN reports.
According to the report, users who tried to access Facebook around 5:30 pm ET read an internal error message for at least 45 minutes.
"Today we experienced technical difficulties causing the site to be unavailable for a number of users. The issue has been resolved and everyone should now have access to Facebook. We apologize for any inconvenience," said Meredith Chin, spokeswoman for Facebook.
The website continued to run extremely slow even after it was restored.
Web users flooded micro blogging platform Twitter with messages showing disappointment and anger about the inability to access their Facebook accounts.
According to Robert Johnson, director of engineering at the Palo Alto, California-based company, the second outage was the biggest the website had suffered in the last four years.
Johnson provided further details about the nature of the flaw on this website.
