Microsoft has announced that it will provide its Security Essentials PC security pack to small businesses for free.
The software, which was previously only available for free to consumers, includes antivirus and anti-adware software.
According to the software licensing agreement, small businesses will be able to install the free software package on up to 10 PCs.
The company said that it understands that small business needed to control operational costs and most could not afford to have a dedicated IT department.
Microsoft said that Security Essentials suite was more of a "set it and forget it" kind of solution, and was perfect for small business looking to save money and protect themselves from viruses and malware at the same time.
The company explained via blog post: “Microsoft Security Essentials provides real-time protection to address the ongoing security needs of a genuine Windows PC, helping to protect it from viruses, spyware and other malicious threats,” by quietly running in the background.
