Microsoft has announced that Activision's Modern Warfare 2 was the most played game on Xbox Live for the week ending 19 September.
Despite its immense success at launch, Halo: Reach came in second.
According to a list released by Microsoft’s Larry Hyrb, Activision's popular game topped Xbox Live's most played charts for the whole week.
Halo: Reach, which was launched on 14 September, attained the number 2 spot within a day of its launch, indicating that the game is set to surge past Modern Warfare 2 as the most played game on Xbox Live by next week.
This has been confirmed by Hyrb, who updated his blog to report: “Halo: Reach was the number one game on Xbox LIVE for the past seven days and had nearly four times as many unique users playing the game on Xbox LIVE vs. Halo 3 for the week of Sept. 13.”
Halo: Reach developer Bungie has released some metrics that highlight the success of the game.
The game developer said that over 70 million Halo: Reach games had been played, more than 235 million player-games had been played, 5,901 years had been spent and 20 million daily challenges had been completed.
