Apple Refreshes iOS Remote App

Apple has finally upgraded its official remote control app for the iOS platform, a welcomed step for all those who were frustrated by the fact that the old version did not support the Retina display.

The remote, which can be downloaded here, allows the user to control iTunes and the Apple TV using the iPhone, the iPad or the iPod Touch.

The new version is "optimized for Retina displays and large screen real estate on iPad" and introduces support for shared libraries on iTunes and the new Apple TV.

Version 2.0 also solves a number of bugs and fixes a few glitches as well. It is compatible with the newly introduced Airplay feature and brings onboard a new design which is closer to the iTunes 10.

The nearest thing we found for PC users in the Logitech Touch Mouse which turns your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad into a wireless trackpad and keyboard.

The app is free and received rave reviews from Lifehacker or Engedaget, besting other paid-for competitors.
