Blackberry Torch 9800 To Go On Sale In The UK On Friday

Phones4U will be releasing the Blackberry Torch 9800 smartphone this Friday according to the updated product page on the retailer's website which also notes that you can preorder today to get it delivered on or before the 2nd of October.

The Torch 9800 (opens in new tab) is available on Vodafone and Orange from as little as £35 per month over either 24 months or 18 months; the cheapest tariff comes with 600 minutes, 3000 texts, unlimited Blackberry mobile internet and email, Satnav with Orange Maps, 50 photo messages and unlimited calls to "Magic Numbers".

A shorter 18-month contract is also available but costs £5 extra with a total cost of ownership of £720. The Blackberry Torch 9800 has a list price of around £500 unlocked at Expansys (opens in new tab).

Specwise, the phone comes with a full QWERTY keyboard and a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 480x320 pixels. It is also the first Blackberry to come with Blackberry OS and incorporates 4GB onboard storage, the usual Blackberry goodies, a 5-megapixel camera with a LED flash and Wi-Fi.
