Hewlett Packard (HP) has announced the name of its new chief executive officer, refuting all speculations and guesses placed by industry insiders since Mark Hurd resigned from his post.
HP’s board of directors has unanimously voted Leo Apothekar as its new CEO and president.
He will take over the reign from interim CEO Cathie Lesjak to succeed the controversial former CEO of the company Mark Hurd, reports Information Week.
According to Bloomberg, 57 year old Apotheker is the former chief executive officer of the German enterprise software company System Application & Product (SAP) development firm.
"Leo is a strategic thinker with a passion for technology, wide-reaching global experience and proven operational discipline, exactly what we were looking for in a CEO," said independent director on the HP board Robert Ryan.
HP has also hired Ray Lane as its new chief operating officer. Lane has previously worked with Oracle as its President and COO.
