Nintendo has claimed that one in every three households in the UK owns a Wii games console.
Citing data released by music and software sales monitoring firm Chart Track, Nintendo said that Nintendo Wii console has sold 8.3 million units in the UK since its launch in December 2006.
Considering the fact that there are around 25 million households in the UK, that claim just might be true. Nintendo's Wii has had immense success in the UK thanks to a wide range of family oriented video game titles and competitive pricing.
The company has also collaborated with several popular British celebrities, including JLS, to promote its Christmas line-up.
The celebrities will feature in a series of adverts and live shows, telling people how the Wii is the ultimate family entertainment package.
Dawn Paine, the marketing director at Nintendo UK said in a statement to Metro: “This year's line up is the best yet, demonstrating the wide appeal of Nintendo products. This Christmas, with the help of our celebrity friends, we will be helping the nation play together and have fun whatever their age.”
