Madeleine McCann's parents have expressed their concerns over the resignation of the chief executive officer of the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (Ceop).
Kate and Gerry McCann, alongside Sara Payne, the mother of deceased eight year old Sarah Payne, have expressed their anger and anguish toward government ministers over their plans for the child protection agency, news agency UKPA reports.
"We are certain that he will be a huge loss to the field of child protection. It is extremely saddening that he feels unable to continue to lead Ceop, apparently as a consequence of the proposed Governmental changes,” said the McCanns in a joint statement.
The couple urged the ministers who had proposed the changes to notice the commitment and dedication of Gamble in his duties towards vulnerable and abused children.
The Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) has also voiced its support for Gamble and CEOP as a stand alone agency.
