Hewlett-Packard (HP) has appointed former 3PAR CEO David Scott as the head of its StorageWorks business unit.
3PAR is an enterprise data storage firm acquired by HP for a $2.35 billion after an intense bidding war with Dell.
Scott, who was earlier appointed as the head of the XP enterprise storage business for HP StorageWorks, will be responsible for enhancing the company's enterprise storage and cloud-based offerings under the StorageWorks name.
He has also worked in key marketing, business strategy, sales and systems engineering positions across HP.
According to HP, Scott will report directly to Dave Donatelli, executive vice president of Enterprise Servers, Storage and Networking at HP.
The company said that Scott's 27 year experience will allow HP to further establish its data centre storage offerings.
Scott said in a statement: “Now with 3PAR's lineup, HP has significantly enhanced its intellectual property in storage, allowing the company to improve how organizations harness the power of technology to drive their businesses.”
