Enterprise networking and communications giant Cisco has unveiled its Cisco Cius tablet PC device.
The Cius is especially designed to work with Cisco's business VoIP products.
The tablet will come with a 7-inch multi-touch screen and is targeted at the healthcare, retail, financial and manufacturing industries with a large budget, as the device is set to ship in 2011 with a price tag of $1,000.
Cius will come with a 5 MP rear camera and a front facing camera with video conferencing capabilities and high definition video recording.
The tablet device will come with support for Cisco Collaboration and Unified Communication applications including Cisco Quad, Cisco WebEx, Cisco Unified Presence, instant messaging, e-mail, and Cisco Unified Communications Manager voice and video telephony features.
It is not yet known whether Cisco will offer a moderately priced consumer version of the tablet device.
The Cius is set to run on the Android 2.2 operating system, and the company said that it was “committed to keeping up with the Android releases to enable new features and functionality”.
