Samsung Wave II To Debut In UK In December

Samsung is literally riding several OS horses as it prepares to launch the Wave II (AKA S8530) smartphone, one which is based on the company's own proprietary Bada operating system, by the end of the year.

A tweet fromSamsung UK confirms that the phone will be launched in December 2010 without giving a more exact window.

The phone will be the company's fifth Bada OS powered handset and will come with a 3.7-inch Super Clear LCD screen (no Super AMOLED) with a WVGA resolution, the TouchWiz user interface, the 1GHz Hummingbird processor, a 5-megapixel camera with HD recording capabilities, GPS, Wi-Fi and possibly a front facing camera.

Samsung hasn't said how many Bada-based phone it has sold since the platform was launched but given that more than five million units of the the Galaxy S have been flogged over the past few months, it will be a real challenge for Samsung's homebrewed OS to do the same.
