The new HTC 7 Pro Windows Phone 7-based smartphone will be launched in the UK around Christmas, along with Dell's Venue Pro smartphone.
Microsoft unveiled the initial line-up of Windows Phone 7 based devices at an event in New York on Monday, in its latest bid to gain some market share in the smartphone segment, currently dominated by Apple, RIM and Google.
The HTC 7 Pro smartphone device will come with a 5 MP camera capable of high definition video recording, a 1GHz Snapdragon processor and a 3.6-inch multi-touch screen. The smartphone will also feature a slide-out QWERTY keyboard.
Microsoft has chosen to keep the hardware specs for the initial Windows Phone 7 line-up pretty much the same. So, Dell's Venue Pro smartphone also features a 1GHz processor, a 5 MP camera and a slide out keyboard. But Dell is offering a larger 4.1-inch WVGA AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display..
The success of the smartphones will be determined by the software they are running. The new Windows Phone 7 will feature Live Tiles, support for Windows Live, Xbox Live and Zune.
