UK mobile services provider Three has started taking pre-orders for the new Samsung Omnia 7 Windows Phone 7-based smartphone.
The phone was launched by software giant Microsoft at a New York event on Monday. The company has also unveiled other Windows Phone 7 smartphones from HTC, Dell and LG.
Three said that Omnia 7 will be the first Windows Phone 7 to be offered on its network in the UK.
The new Samsung handset features a 4 inch Super AMOLED display, a 5 MP camera with flash and high definition video recording capabilities. It will also be powered by 1GHz processor, 8GB of memory, Wi-Fi connectivity and built-in GPS.
Three has also said that the phone will be incorporated with Three branded applications and goodies, including Three Hub which will provide account management functions and a list of 'best links' from Planet 3.
Sylvia Chind, Head of Branded Devices at Three, said in a statement: “We want to provide a range of handsets and operating systems to our customers and we’re excited to now offer Windows Phone 7 on the Samsung Omnia 7.”
