Hardware specialist Hannspree has announced its first European flagship store, which is situated in the Westfield London shopping centre.
The long-predicted death of bricks 'n' mortar stores is, apparently, a myth - and Hannspree has decided to prove it, with the first self-run UK store in the company's seven-year history. Following a year of planning and preparation, Hannspree is ready to open its doors in November - although a firm opening schedule hasn't yet been confirmed, but is thought to coincide with the switching on of the Christmas Lights on the 13th of November.
The new physical sales location marks a distinct departure from traditional practices for the company, which normally makes products for other retailers to sell - including a popular range of monitors and HDTVs - and with 1,483 square feet of floor space it should certainly have the room to showcase its wares.
Speaking of the surprising decision to open its own store - clearly having taken a leaf out of Apple's book - UK and Northern Ireland territory manager Martin Kent explained: "Our products really do stand out on the shelf, so it is fantastic to finally have a hub where we can really showcase the designs and construction that make Hannspree products so unique."
Although he wouldn't be pushed on the company's precise intentions for the launch event, Kent added that Westfield London "has been very supportive in getting the store up and running and has big, exciting plans for the store opening event in November."
