Sony has announced that it has sold close to around 1.5 million units of its newly launched PlayStation Move motion gaming controller since its launch.
The European head for Sony Computer Entertainment Andrew House told Bloomberg that the comapny had seen significant demand for the controller in the month after its launch, selling around 1.5 million units in Europe.
He said: “The initial sales response has been so far in excess of our initial plan that we’ll probably be looking at accelerating production.”
The Sony executive also added that the company was planning on pushing for 15 million units to be sold in the current fiscal year, owing to a strong demand in US and Europe.
House also said that the company was expecting "very, very strong" Christmas sales for its gaming consoles in Europe.
Sony's rival Microsoft, which has launched its own Kinect motion gaming perphiral, is aiming to sell 3 million Kinect units worldwide by Christmas.
