Microsoft has announced that it has sold 240 million licenses for Windows 7 OS within a year of its launch.
The software giant said in a blog post that Windows 7 was the fastest selling operating system in its history.
According to Microsoft, as of September, Windows 7 was found on 93 per cent of all the new consumer PCs and accounted for 17 per cent of the global OS market.
Microsoft also boasted: “Six months after launch, 100% (over 18,000) of our OEM partners were selling Windows 7 PCs versus 70% for Windows Vista PCs at a comparable time period.”
The company also took a jab at Apple, by stating that Microsoft had surged past Apple in terms of customer satisfaction back in February.
This rise in customer index is being attributed to Windows 7, which comes with a lot of interesting new features.
Windows 7 has also contributed to the development of Microsoft's newly launched Windows Phone 7 mobile OS, which has so far received positive reviews from critics and fans.
