Amazon has announced that it is planning to introduce a new feature to its Kindle e-book reader, set to allow users to lend their e-books to friends.
According to Amazon, users will be able to lend an ebook for a loan period of 14 days to their friends.
The company added that the person who lends the e-book will not be able to access the ebook until its loan period expires.
Amazon said that users will not be able to lend each and every e-book available for Kindle, but only those that have been enabled by their publishers or rights holders.
The company also announced that users will be able to read their newspapers and periodicals on their Kindle apps.
“In the coming weeks, many newspapers and magazines will be available on our Kindle apps for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch, and then we'll be adding this functionality to Kindle for Android and our other apps down the road,” the company said.
