LogMeIn has released a new online meeting and collaboration tool called join.me, designed to allow users to add up to 250 participants.
According to the company, join.me is a light-weight screen sharing tool that will allow users to share the screen with friends or colleagues for free, without any registration or account.
Kevin Bardos, LogMeIn's vice president of collaboration products, said in a statement: “Cost, plug-ins, lengthy registration forms, these have all presented unnecessary hurdles to both adoption and widespread usage. We wanted to offer something that would provide a stark contrast to the undesirable but well deserved reputation of today's online meeting products.”
The service will able available to customers from a website or a free desktop application.
The website will offer two options, one 'Share' and the other 'Join', when users click on the share button, a meeting will start and a special location-code will be generated, which can be e-mailed, Tweeted or posted as a status message.
