Popular cable television provider Virgin Media has unveiled the Nokia N8 handset has arrived on its Virgin Mobile network, along with an application for viewing its parent company's video content.
The Nokia N8 arrives with a preloaded app, that allows for Virgin Media's content to be streamed to customers on their network with the appropriate Virgin TV XL package.
The ‘Virgin Media Player' app provides Virgin Media customers the ability to watch programmes from Virgin Media's content library, in the same way its current desktop VOD browser also does - only over 3G, with WIFI coming in an update later on.
The software allows access to mobile-optimised content from 4oD, Comedy Central, MTV and Nickelodeon with shows such as South Park, The Inbetweeners, The Hills and The IT Crowd.
Nokia's N8 also allows displaying of this content through its miniHDMI port, where it's even possible to create HD video via the handsets 12 megapixel camera with a Xenon flash.
The Virgin Media Nokia N8 offering comes pre-loaded with BBC iPlayer, besides their own Virgin Media Player from £40 on a Virgin Media pay monthly tariff - with 1,200 minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited web access with free calls to other Virgin Mobiles.
