Sony has launched a new scheme in the UK to allow its customers to claim back Value Added Tax directly from the company.
The VAT Back offer, which will end on Christmas Eve, is applicable to almost all Sony products including cameras, e-readers and Blu-ray players, 3D TVs, and laptops. The scheme commence of the 28 November.
However, Sony has announced that its PlayStation 3 games console will not be included in the scheme.
Sony has also managed to persuade all prominent retailers in the UK to endorse the scheme, including John Lewis, Tesco Extra, M&S Home, Jessops, PC World, Amazon, Comet, Currys and Argos. Independent retailers and Sony stores are also on-board with the deal.
Andy Benson, commercial director at Sony UK said in a statement to PCR: “Next year is likely to be a tough time for everyone, and with Christmas around the corner, getting the ‘VAT Back’ will hopefully make the difference for anyone in two minds about whether to make that extra special purchase for the family or as a Christmas gift.”
