Spotify Denies Holding Acquisition Talks With Apple

Spotify has refuted rumours that it is in acquisition talks with iTunes-owner Apple.

The company reacted to a rumour published by TechCrunch, which said that the company was in talks with Apple over a possible acquisition.

Spotify spokesperson Jim Butcher told CNET that the acquisition talks never took place with Apple.

“We wouldn't normally comment on this kind of speculation, but we wanted to make it clear that we have absolutely no intention of selling Spotify,” he said.

The company, which has a good hold in the online music streaming market in the UK, offers users a chance to stream unlimited music for a monthly fee.

Spotify has been trying to move into the US market, but has not been able to do so yet. However, top company executives say that the move should happen by the end of this year.

Apple on the other hand, has a massive user base on its iTunes service and is expected to come up with its own online music streaming service in the future.
