Apple's iPad device running the beta 3 version of iOS 4.2 has been successfully jailbroken by iOS developer ih8sn0w.
The developer, who is behind the Sn0wbreeze jailbreaking tool, has managed the feat using the untethered bootrom level Limera1n exploit recently released by Geohot.
ih8sn0w has also posted an image to prove his claim. The image shows full root access using MobileTerminal on iOS 4.2 Beta 3 for the iPad tablet device, tech news site Redmond Pie reports.
The next version of Sn0wbreeze will be designed to jailbreak the iPhone 4 on iOS 4.1, iPad on iOS 3.2.2 and iOS 4.2 and Apple TV 2G on iOS 4.1 among other iOS devices.
Apple's upcoming iOS 4.2 update will be the first major software update for the iPad. The software will also come with a patch for a recently discovered iPhone 4 security flaw, that allows anyone to bypass the iPhone password security just by punching in a bunch of numbers.
Other iOS 4.2 jailbreaking tools are also expected to the launched as iOS 4.2 approaches.
