Microsoft has announced that it has released its Microsoft Lync 2010 Office communications platform to manufacturing.
The platform will be an update to the existing Office Communications and Server platform and will receive a worldwide launch for partners and customers on 17 November 2010. It will allow customers to communicate with their peers from within Office applications.
The company said in a blog post that the GA version of the Microsoft Lync platform will offer a single platform for all kind of enterprise style communications, an extensive and open platform for developers and provide a set of cost effective voice capabilities.
Microsoft is also planning to make a we-based cloud version of Lync available along with Office, Sharepoint and Exchange.
Kirk Gregersen, a senior director at Microsoft wrote on the blog: “Kudos to the incredible Lync product team who have been marching hard with three major releases in as many years to deliver the platform our customers and partners have been waiting for.”
