Twitter has released its official application for Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 mobile operating system.
Smartphones powered by Windows Phone 7 hit European stores on 21 October, while US consumers will be able to get their hands on the devices from 8 November.
Twitter said that the app had been designed to allow users to get tweets quickly and easily, no matter which Windows Phone device they were using.
The company complimented the "clean" design of the Windows Phone 7 platform for contributing the functionality of the app.
The new Twitter for Windows Phone app will come with all the usual features like timeline, suggested users, messages and lists. Users will also be able to explore the app while offline, the company said.
The app will allow users to swipe through the pages within the application, which are also called Pivots.
“Pivots allow you to swipe left or right to view different categories or types of information within a single application. For example, in Twitter for Windows Phone, you can swipe left or right to move from your timeline to mentions to direct messages,” the company explained on a blog post.
