Mass Effect 2 Wins Ultimate Game of The Year Award

Mass Effect 2 has been named the Ultimate Game of the Year at the Golden Joystick gaming awards, beating titles such as Modern Warfare 2 and Assassin's Creed 2 to the top spot.

The game also managed to bag the title of the best role playing game of the year at the awards.

Plants v/s Zombies managed to bag two awards, one for the best strategy game and the other for the best downloadable game.

Assassin's Creed II was named the action game of the year while Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was awarded the coveted shooter of the year award.

Simon Maxwell of Future, the company which organised the awards, said in a statement toThe Press Association: “It is a testament to the creativity and diversity of the industry that games are booming. Games that are playable anytime, any place, anywhere, across social networks and communications devices, are delighting new players.”

Other games that won awards at the ceremony included FIFA 10, Super Street Fighter IV, Guitar Hero 5 and Final Fantasy XIII.
