Former multimedia heavyweight Creative Labs has unveiled two tablets, the ZiiO 7 and the ZiiO 10, that run on Android and costs as little as £200.
Both models come with resistive touchscreen displays complete with a stylus and run Android OS 2.1 plus they incorporate Creative's very own ZiiStore application marketplace.
Interestingly, they use Creative Labs' own 1GHz ZiiLabs ZMS-08 processor, which is based on the ARM Cortex A8 and the company has revealed that it has incorporated audio technology based on its award winning X-Fi and Apt-X.
The smaller of the two ZiiO tablets weighs only 400g, has a 7-inch 800x480 pixel screen and 8GB onboard storage.
The more expensive model comes in at 650g, has a 10-inch 1024x600 pixels screen, has 16GB onboard storage and costs £270.
The rest of the spec list reminds us of a top-end smartphone; a front facing camera (but no rear camera), 512MB RAM, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, a built-in accelerometer, HDMI-out port, microphone and speaker and a microSD card reader.
As expected, they are compatible with a number of audio and video formats including AVI, MKV, FLAC, OGG and MP4.
